What Is Wireless Lan

What does WiMAX Internet mean? A look at global interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX).
WiMAX known in English for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, is a coalition of the wireless industry dedicated to advancing IEEE 802.16 standards for wireless broadband access networks (BWA).
Global interoperability for microwave access is a technology standard for long-range wireless networks for both mobile and fixed connections.
While WiMAX once imagined itself as a leading form of Internet communication as an alternative to cable and DSL, its adoption has been limited.
Mainly due to its much higher cost, Wireless LAN and WiMAX is not a replacement for WiFi or wireless access point technologies. However, it may be cheaper to implement WiMAX instead of standard wired hardware as with DSL.

WHAT IS WIMAX?

WiMAX equipment comes in two basic forms: base stations, installed by service providers to implement the technology in a coverage area; and receivers, installed on clients.
